Ryan Crawford is a children's author and game designer from South London.
Once just a kid from Croydon, he's now published a series of middle-grade sci-fi books called Cosmic Cadets with Oxford Children's, illustrated by Rochelle Falconer. Following Gloria, the first human at the Cosmic Cadets Academy, and her furry-tailed partner Razz, it's a fast-paced, hilarious space-buddy adventure for readers aged 6 to 9, praised for taking on "important, gently handled issues of belonging, difference and friendship" amid the fun and chaos.
Ryan also wrote the picture book What Can We Be? with illustrator Kayla Coombs, and contributed three stories — Walter Tull, Lilian Bader and Claudia Jones — to Scholastic's anthology Bedtime Stories: Beautiful Black Tales from the Past. He also writes science fiction and fantasy for older readers as R.A. Crawford.
Before publishing, he spent fifteen years in the technology and games industry, and has also published two board games himself. He is a 2026 GLL Literary Foundation author, working with Bromley libraries, and appears at schools, libraries and festivals across the UK, including Cheltenham and Henley. He lives in south London with his wife and two kids.
